U14s lose in Convoy

Although Convoy came into game with a 100% record, it was Drumoghill that made the stronger start and looked the better team for the opening period.

The message before the game was to get the ball wide, and the space of Orchard Park afforded them the opportunity to make the most of the strength we had in wide areas.

The game remained scoreless until the first water break, but it turned in favour of the home side shortly after it's resumption when Convoy took the lead.

Panic then set in after the concession of another straight from the kick off, and this was quickly followed by a third goal to effectively end the game as a contest.

However, the half time break was an opportunity to reset and Drumoghill started to regain some of the control that had been completely lost.

Despite the concession of another goal from a corner kick, Drumoghill were much more prominent in attack and got their rewards when the excellent Sam McElhinney pulled one back from a fine James O'Donnell through ball.

McElhinney was on target again from a similar move minutes later - this time played in by Matthew Middleton - to further reduce the deficit, and it was game on when McElhinney forced on OG with 10 minutes to go.

However, the warm evening took it's toll and Convoy picked them off late on to extend their lead and see out a deserved win.

Plenty of positives to take home and a reminder to remain focused on what is covered on the training pitch.
