St. Catherine's 7-2 Drumoghill
In a game played in damp conditions, this was one that was very much in the balance until a goal spurt from St. Catherines in the final 10 minutes put an end to any hopes the away team had of taking points back to The Moss.
The first half was an even contest with Harvey Smyth equalising an early opener for the hosts before efforts from Keiran Tourish and the Jack Meehan (who was excellent throughout, controlling the midfield) were well handled by the goalkeeper.
The home side led narrowly at the break and then extended their lead in the second half before Kieran Tourish brought the game back to 3-2 after firing home from the penalty spot. His penalty came after Liam O'Brien was fouled after a brilliant run into the penalty area.
It was now game on and Drumoghill went looking for what would've been a deserved equaliser, but they were undone in the last 10 minutes when further goals from the home side put the game beyond doubt meaning the visitors went home empty handed.
The final scoreline was harsh, particularly on the likes of Robert Holmes and Jamie Carroll who both were excellent at full back, along with the Jack Meehan who produced a fine performance in midfield.
Well done to the boys on battling through in tough conditions and our thanks to all the parents for making the long trip on a such a miserable day.
