U12s reach League Cup Semi-Finals

Joe McGonigle with another hat-trick followed and an early brace from Danny Doherty put Drumoghill in control before a late strike from Liam O'Brien completed the scoring.

The visitors though will feel the score-line was somewhat harsh given their good start to the game and the overall pattern of the game. Drumoghill though were clinical in attack and were strong in defence whenever Letterbarrow did threaten with Jack Meehan looking particularly strong at centre-back.

Letterbarrow started well but the game's turning point arrived on 10 minutes when Danny Doherty picked up possession in midfield, strode forward and unleashed an unerring drive with his left foot that flew into the top corner to open the scoring. Sean Conneely had no chance in goals for Letterbarrow.

Two minutes later it was 2-0 when Doherty again was on target, this time from 8 yards when he drove home following a corner.

James O'Donnell provided the assist for Joe McGonigle to make it 3-0 just before half-time to effectively end the contest.

McGonigle completed his hat-trick early in the second half before Liam O'Brien added another on the hour.
Well done to both teams and to all of the Letterbarrow contingent who made the effort to travel over.

The reds now advance to the semi-finals where they face Castlefin Celtic.
