Slow start for Drumoghill in Division 1
20 Sept 2026
BALLYBOFEY UNITED 4-0 DRUMOGHILL
Drumoghill got their Division 1 campaign off to the worst possible start with defeat at Ballybofey in a game where there were plenty of learnings.

There are high hopes for this Drumoghill team after their promotion from Division 2 last season, but this game created a very early awareness of the standard that will be needed if this team are to succeed at this level.
Drumoghill went into this game knowing that they were up against one of the teams expected to challenge for the title this season, so they always knew this was going to be a difficult task.
Still, they will be disappointed with their opening 45 minutes when they simply afforded the opposition too much time and space.
Good players will exploit these opportunities and that's exactly what happened as the home side raced into a 4-0 lead inside the first half hour.
In fairness to Drumoghill, they did learn from that opening 30 minutes and started to get to grips with what was needed.
The half time interval came at a good time and the team were able to revisit the game plan and confront what would be required to compete at this level.
The second half was a much more controlled and determined display. As well as keeping a clean sheet in the second half, the team did carve out a number of opportunities in front of goal which required Odhran Patton to be at his best to keep them out.
Next up is a home game with Gweedore Celtic when Drumoghill will be looking to build on that second half and their season up and running.
Thanks to Ryan Carlin for officiating.
