Reds clinch U14 Semi Final Spot

26 Apr 2026

DRUMOGHILL 6-2 KILDRUM TIGERS

Harvey Smyth produced a 5 star performance at The Moss today, scoring 5 goals in this league cup win over Kildrum Tigers. James O'Donnell was also on target as Drumoghill secured a deserved win, and a place in the semi finals.

Kldrum started brighter but it was Drumoghill that opened the scoring when Kieran Tourish sent Harvey Smyth clear to finish well in the 5th minute.,

However, Kildrum responded to take a 2-1 lead on 12 minutes, thanks to a couple of strikes from distance, before Drumoghill restored parity immediately from kick off when Jensen Rodgers sent Smyth clear again to equalise.

Smyth complete his hat-trick with a neat chip over the advancing keeper on 22 minutes, but the lead didn't last long as Molly Toland made it 3-3 from a penalty on 28 minutes.

With the game seemingly heading level at the break, Smyth pounced again on 33 minutes from a tight angle to put his side back into the lead.

The second half saw both teams tighten up defensively, but Drumoghill almost extended their lead straight after the restart when the excellent Ryan Glenn was unlucky to see an effort rebound off the crossbar after being set up by Tourish.

However, there was no reprieve for Kildrum as Drumoghill did extend their lead moments later when James O'Donnell finished well from a narrow angle.

Back came Kildrum though to reduce the arrears through Sami Shahzad with 10 minutes to go. Shahzad raced away from the half-way line and finished well to set up an intriguing finish as Kildrum went looking for an equaliser.

Drumoghill though remained composed with Jack White, Oisin TInney, Robert Holmes, Jamie Caroll and Jamie Cullen doing everything within their power to preserve the lead.

The game though was settled with 5 minutes remaining when Smyth hammered home a 20 yard free kick to settle the outcome.

Well done Drumoghill and to Harvey Smyth on being the game's outstanding player. For Kildrum, Sami Shahzad and Molly Toland were excellent.

Drumoghill now face a tough trip to Letterbarrow Celtic next Sunday.

Thanks to Victor for officiating.
