Reds clinch Division 1 title

20 Sept 2026

CAPPRY ROVERS 0-3 DRUMOGHILL

Danny Doherty struck twice to add to James O'Donnell's early opener, as Drumoghill clinched the title in style at Cappry Park on Sunday.

Although Drumoghill deserved their win, they had to work hard throughout. The home side were always a threat.

Drumoghill also had to overcome some early nerves with a few passes going astray during the early minutes, as Cappry began well and looked more than capable of putting a dent in Drumoghill's title bid.
But everything changed in the 6th minute.

There seemed little danger when Drumoghill launched their first attack,

Bethany Goudie's cross from the right wing was cleared easily, but fell to James O'Donnell around 25 yards out.

O'Donnell controlled it well and the ball sat up nicely for a brilliant strike that looped into the top corner of the net to put Drumoghill ahead.

Drumoghill then looked much more like themselves with Cillian Martin and Jack Meehan starting to take charge in midfield.

Bethany Goudie and Danny Doherty were now looking a lot more threatening down the wide areas, and it was from one such move that Drumoghill doubled their lead on 22 minutes.

Bethany was sent clear by Rhys Hastings and her cross to the back post was diverted home by Danny Doherty.

Drumoghill knew they were now in control, but had to keep things tight knowing that one goal for the home side would put the result back in doubt.

But there was a determination about today's second half performance that nothing was going to loosen their grip on the trophy, and they knew the game was safe with 10 minutes to go when Doherty notched his second from another Bethany Goudie cross.

The game, and the title, were now safe and Drumoghill saw the game out.

A massive credit to each of them today. They knew what was at stake today but kept their focus throughout and in the end got what they fully deserved. A brilliant season for these young players with each one of them deserving their medals and playing their part in remaining unbeaten for the entire season.
