Play-off Delight for The Reds
3 May 2026
DRUMOGHILL 4-3 CONVOY ARSENAL
Drumoghill FC will play Division 1 football for the first time in 4 years after securing a deserved 4-3 play-off win over Convoy Arsenal at Donegal League HQ this afternoon.

Niall McCrossan with goals in each half, along with first half strikes from Liam O’Donnell and Ben Cassidy, were enough to secure a victory that was briefly threatened by a Calum Gillen strike in injury time to give Concoy hope. However, the reds held firm to spark scenes of delight at the final whistle.
The victory is a just reward for manager Jockey Wilson, whose determination to secure promotion after a series of near-misses finally brought him the success that he deserves.
The same holds true for Liam O’Donnell and Karlos Rodgers, both of whom played almost the full 90 minutes today, who have worked hard for many years to finally get out of Division 2.
Play-off games are normally cagey affairs, but this one was different as both teams went all out on the attack and the game burst into life with 3 goals in the opening 12 minutes.
Drumoghill took the lead after just 10 minutes when Liam O’Donnell was in the right place at the right time to fire home after good work from Ben Cassidy.
However, it was a lead that was short lived with Aidan Boal (11) and Jamie Spratt (12) turning the game on its head as Convoy look the lead.
The game then settled for a period and it looked like Convoy would retain their lead until the interval, but Drumoghill produced their own double strike just before the half time whistle to turn the game again.
Niall McCrossan equalised on 41 minutes before Niall McCrossan but Drumoghill into the lead a minute later.
The second half began with Calum Crampsie denying Calum Gillen at the near post just after the restart
before Drumoghill extended their lead on 50 minutes. From a left wing Ben Cassidy corner, Niall McCrossan found space to guide a well placed header just inside the post to extend Drumoghill’s lead.
Drumoghill were now on top and looked the more likely to score again with Leon Doherty and Karol McGinley both going close, but still needed Crampsie to be at his best when called upon on a number of occasions during the second period.
As the game reached injury time, Drumoghill started to retreat and paid the price when Gillen fired a super strike that came off both posts before wrestling in the back of the net.
But it was too little, too late, and Drumoghill held on for a deserved win.
