Harry Magic puts Reds through

27 Sept 2026

DRUMOGHILL 2-1 ERNE WANDERERS

A moment of magic from Harry Browne in the final minute of this entertaining cup game won the game for our Division 1 side against Premier Division Erne Wanderers.3

Browne's goal came only a few minutes after Danny Doherty's equaliser as Drumoghill had to come from behind to complete the comeback.

The visitors had led since the 3rd minute and looked the better side for most of the first half, and they would have stretched their lead if it weren't for a couple of fine saves from Finn O'Donnell.

Finn is becoming more game aware and this was evident today when he came off his line more than once to anticipate and clear up dangerous breaks from the opponent.

Drumoghill gradually found their rhythm and created a couple of decent opportunities in the final minutes before half time.Sarah Holmes and Bobby Russell combined well to release James O'Donnell in the 25th minute only for his neat finish to rebound off the post.

Two minutes later, Bethany Goudie was quickest to pounce on a goal kick and was unlucky to see her effort drift wide of the post.

Drumoghill began the second half the stronger and had control of the game for long periods. However, despite their dominance, chances were few and far between as the visitors became more intent on defending their lead.

Drumoghill started to push more numbers forward in the final 15 minutes and chances started to come their way.

Joe McGonigle was unlucky to drag a shot wide before Danny Doherty forced a good save from the keeper.

The equaliser finally arrived with 10 minutes to go when Jack Meehan broke forward and combined well with Cillian Martin who set up Danny Doherty who fired home from a narrow angle with a fine left foot finish.
With the dreaded penalty shoot out looming, Drumoghill had their tails up and went looking for the winner but Erne Wanderers were giving very little away.

Just when it looked like time had beaten them, Harry Browne came up with the winner.

Harry gained possession around 30 yards from goal and spotted the keeper had left a gap at his left hand post. Harry found that gap as he curled a brilliant strike into the unguarded corner to win the game for his team.

A brilliant finish to a very good game that was in the balance throughout.

Erne Wanderers played their part throughout and were very unlucky to lose out.

Thanks to Erne for travelling and to referee Marty McGarrigle for officiating.
