Battling Reds lose at Fintown
3 Sept 2026
Fintown Harps 5-2 Drumoghill
In what was always going to be a tough evening away to the runaway league leaders, Drumoghill battled throughout in wet conditions, but eventually lost out to a strong Fintown team.
Liam O'Brien and Jack Meehan were on target in a game where Drumoghill stood firm for large periods, but were undone at crucial stages in the game.
The visitors actually started the game quite well with Sam McElhinney, James O'Donnell and Harvey Smyth all looking bright in attack and threatening.
At the other end, Jamie Cullen and Oisin Tinney stood firm to thwart the danger that the home side posed in a game that started to become stretched, with both teams looking to make the breakthrough.
The game though would turn in the latter stages of the first half when Fintown struck 3 times without reply.
Drumoghill did hit back in the second half thanks to strikes from O'Brien and Meehan, but the home side struck again late on and ran out deserving winners.
Credit to the boys for digging in and not giving up, with James O'Donnell and Bobby Russell impressing for the Drumoghill.
Thanks to Paddy for hosting the game and to Tony McNamee for officiating.
