We are spinning back around 44 years this week (we think it's around 1981/1982) with a classic that was taken in the kitchen of Biddy Friel's Lounge.

The kitchen area would be our base for many years for our weekly Take Your Pick and it was from this room that preparations were made for that evening's event.

It was also from this modest room that many of the club's plans were devised. From players that should be signed, tactics that should be used to appeals that should be lodged, this was where the big decisions were taken.

So too were decisions that needed to be taken around work that needed to be undertaken by the club as part of maintaining our facilities. We did have our club meetings at that time but those meetings often rubber-stamped what might already have been planned and decided in the kitchen.

This kitchen was a busy place during the 1980s & 1990s and there were many Sunday nights that it was not possible to squeeze into it. It was either packed with people or cigar smoke. Or both.

Biddy Friel's were attracting the biggest bands and the biggest crowds around the NW at that time and our teams were lifting trophies.

Biddy's underwent a number of extensions and redevelopments during those years but the kitchen remained a constant. Times were hard but life was good and our teams were doing well.

The picture we have this week is of a few people that were waiting to be admitted to the kitchen. The quality isn't great but we know that Kieran O'Donnell is one of them and we think that his wife Ann is there too.

We're not quite sure who is with them (pictured in the middle) but have some ideas. However, we'd welcome any input from any of our followers to help identify this individual - so please comment below if you know!
